Why is pH so important?

It is extremely important for your plants that the pH value of the soil is between 6 and 7 (slightly lower for hydro and coconut). Therefore, the nutrient solution must also have the correct pH value – if the pH value is too high or too low, the plants will struggle to take up the nutrients and will consequently develop poorly. A correctly adjusted pH value is therefore a prerequisite for healthy growth and abundant yields.

Potassium silicate as a buffer:

Athena Balance uses potassium silicate in a formula specially designed to buffer nutrient solutions. In addition to buffering, silicon has some extremely positive effects on your plants. Cell structure is strengthened, nutrient utilisation is improved and stress caused by external factors is reduced.

Particularly suitable for reverse osmosis water:

Reverse osmosis water has a somewhat unstable chemical structure. This can lead to blocking of nutrients if they are added without prior buffering. Athena Balance solves exactly this problem in indoor cultivation and stabilises the osmosis water to such an extent that a homogeneous fertiliser solution is created without the need for further pH adjustment afterwards. This is particularly practical in irrigation systems with reservoirs, where the pH value often changes after a short period of time. However, the balance also continues to affect the growing medium during normal watering and maintains the buffering effect of the medium (substrate).
