With the APOGEE QUANTUM METER MQ-500 Full spectrum Quantum Meter you can measure PAR, phorosynthetic radiation in HPS, CMH and LED lighting!

The APOGEE QUANTUM METER MQ-500 is a device for the accurate measurement of photosynthetically active radiation from all HPS, CMH and LED light sources. It has a hand-held counter attached by a cable that displays and stores the measurements. The sensor incorporates a blue silicon enhanced photodiode and custom optical filters with a robust, self-cleaning sensor housing design, anodised aluminium housing with acrylic diffuser. Typical applications include PPFD measurements over plant canopies in outdoor environments, greenhouses and growth chambers, and reflective or under- or over- (transmitted) PPFD measurements in the same environments. Quantum sensors are also used to measure PAR/PPFD in aquatic environments, including saltwater aquariums where corals are grown.

The meter has a sample and a log mode and records the integrated daily total value in mol m-2 d-1. Up to 99 manual measurements are recorded in sample mode. Log mode will turn the meter on/off and measure every 30 seconds. Every 30 minutes, the meter averages the 60 30-second measurements and records the average value in memory. The meter can store up to 99 averages, and when it is full, it will start overwriting the oldest measurement with the new ones. The integrated daily total will be recorded from 48 average measurements (over a 24-hour period). Sample and log measurements can be viewed on the LCD or by downloading data to a computer, but the total daily sum can only be viewed by downloading data to a computer. To transfer data to your computer, you need an AC-100 communication cable (a standard USB cable will not work) and the ApogeeAMS software.
